“In August 2010 I literally picked Christchurch Painters from a list. I had no knowledge of this firm prior to that date. What a very lucky choice I made!
Tim duly arrived to quote me for a long overdue paint job on the outside of my house. I was most impressed by his professionalism, friendliness and willingness to discuss all the queries I had.
There was no sign of the condescension, often encountered from a tradesman when dealing with a woman. So refreshing!
The quote promptly arrived as did the September earthquake unfortunately. This meant delays while EQC assessments were done and work decided on. The EQC processes & delays really dragged on so I decided to ‘opt-out’ of the EQC system as I had faith in Tim and his painting company that between us we could deal with what needed to be done.
Luckily, there were only cracks needed to be filled, prepped, painted & decorated – no structural repairs required.
I also decided to have the house completely repainted inside and out, adding the necessary finance to that I expected to receive from EQC.
On February 22, 2011 at around midday a shaken Tim arrived, having driven here through the earthquake, to give a quote for the additional work needed post earthquake.
After checking I had survived and helping a distraught neighbour he left to check on his staff and warehouse. Of course a second round of assessments ensued taking even more time.
By the end of the year we were all ready for the paint work to be done in the New Year of 2012.
However over the holiday period the ‘rules’ changed and new quotes had to be submitted in certain formats and the company was unable to begin until all had been approved and I had received the cash due.
In October 2012 I received a partial payment and after some behind the scenes investigation by Glenn the remainder arrived in time for the workers to begin mid December.
Because my yard is too small for a container to store my furniture and I am on a back section the painters moved my furniture into the garage, completed the work inside the house and moved it all back so they could work on the garage.
All with a smile. They even helped me to hang some pictures!
I was comfortably resettled in my home for Christmas 2012 and realise what an incredibly fortunate person I was and that I had made a very fortunate choice of company ,by chance, from a list of random Christchurch painting companies.
The workmanship throughout is of a very high standard and after listening to sad tales from friends I know how LUCKY I have been.
All through this ordeal Tim and his Christchurch Painting Contractors, particularly David were always pleasant, helpful and happy to talk to an increasingly frustrated homeowner.
Tim would call in from time to time and he never departed without leaving a smile on my face. He was always so positive. I do know that business had not been easy over that period but he was always cheerful.
By supplying Painters Christchurch with a painting job reference, I feel that perhaps it might repay a little of the help, kindness and professionalism the company has shown to me”.
